Part II: Talent Show
"It's time for our talent show. What talents can you show us?
- Talking is a talent; you can show us how you talk - tell us a story (optional: with the microphone)
- Singing is a talent; can you sing a song for us (optional: with the microphone)
- Reading is a talent; you could read a book to us
- Writing is a talent; maybe you want to show us how you can write or draw (on paper or on dry erase board, etc.)
- Playing is a talent; show us how you play pretend, or play show us how you play an instrument.
- Write each child participant's name with the talent they'll be performing on the board.
- Introduce each child participant (i.e. "Up next is Dominic! Dominic will be singing us a song. Let's give it up for Dominic!") and encourage the audience to listen while each child performs.
- Parents/caregivers are welcome to perform with their child or support their child's performance in a way that is most comfortable for the child. Children can perform talents together. Respect the mic is a good rule for any open mic program, but also remember to have fun and be flexible! Sometimes a child performer wants their friends standing around them "on stage" even if they're "not doing anything." :)
